i’ve picked up cycling recently. got a 2nd hand two-wheeler a few weeks ago for $190 and that’s good! am not sure if’s it’s something i would do for long or something that i can afford much time on.
i’ve since gone on 2 rides. first was from home to bedok reservoir and back. a short and manageable distance with long intervals in between as we had to adjust the seat height and angle a couple of times along the way. the 2nd was to ECP and back! still not too bad. i was reminded of a night cycling trip donkey years ago. i believe we started from ECP and then to hougang area and then to the airport and back to ECP!
i’ve enjoyed both trips so far. but still need to work on my core. i was a little unstable on the bike especially when it is at some narrow paths or sharp corners. alternatively, got to change the tyres to some thicker ones which helps in the balancing.
so far, we have added lights, a new seat, a bike stand and a new (cheap) helmet! i saw one ivory pearl white helmet for over $100. was very tempted but decided against it. we’ll see how i get going on this new adventure.

poh fong sent this to CG about 4 days ago but i only just got time to read it and i smiled and thought – wow, this is like a report of the event that u read in newsletter etc and i asked her for permission to post this on multiply.
she said “sure, no problem. i got little bit of 职业病!hehehe…”
she is really good – i think she even got all the chinese names correct eg. to me zhiming and zhifeng could have been the same “zhi” u know… but i realised from her report that their “zhi” is different!!

An email from my friend; Hanbin to all in the Chinese church:-
Just could not resist but want to send a mass mail to all to testify to God’s goodness, just before I fly off for my business trip.
On the Sunday before the camp, I was desperate for the message to bring to the congregation and the Joshua story spoke to me again.
I am reminded of a recommitment 3 year from our start.
Is He among us during the camp?
No doubt about it! I felt Him strongly and clearly! And, I am excited!
The worships are spirit lead. We were all lost in our praise to our king. Amen!
The message – speaks right into our heart and soul. So tailored and yet so applicable to all.
Many brokenness mended and broken dreams given a resurrection.
God is good and I look forward to our time together that we will uphold His name in honour.
Me of little faith but I am ‘surprised’ by the presence of the Holy spirit in such a manner. From Hanbin
This may seem like an over-due aftermath from camp but God is indeed good!
I got my approval to go for camp just 5 days before camp and I spent 3 weekday nights working late into the nights to clear my work. So, you can imagine how ill-prepared I was for camp. Even the night before was spent frantically packing for camp till 2am
I’ve attended YF/church camps since 1985 and never missed any camp except for year 1986. It’s at least the 20th camp for me but I was very moved by God and the HS and God ministered to me personally at camp.
I also want to thank God for the safety He bestowed upon us. I was in a convoy with Hanbin, Chris and Simon. When we reached Malacca city, we were trying very hard to tail-gate behind one another because of the heavy traffic. There was this time when a vehicle tried to cut in between Simon and myself and I refused to give in initially. But a “force” made me turned my steering wheel so that my car steered away from the incoming vehicle. And I was wondering if that was the HS or was it my reflex reaction. Then Simon and Hanbin commented later that they saw my car reacting very fast to the vehicle who was trying to cut in… and I decided that that must be the HS! Thank God for that.
On the first day of camp, we were asked to write down on a post-it what we want to achieve from the camp. Mine was renewed and strengthened faith. And the 1st objective was met on the very first day. The sermon was apt and great for my soul
. I dozed off big time on the 2nd day’s sermon
I think it’s because of the late night before camp and before of the intense drive up to Malacca. We were rushing and going on average 110km/hr and we didn’t stop at all after the 1st toll after the Causeway check-point. BUT, there were still many learning points and spiritual reminders from the camp.
When the pastor gave the invitation for anyone who wanted prayer to come forward, the response was tremendous and anticipative from the congregation. I didn’t carry much hope to be prayed for as from previous experience as there were so many people. But the HS did his work in me and I was under the power of the HS. God brought to light the past which I had to release and I manifested under the power of the HS. And when the pastor prayed over me, there was another level of release and I decided that I should not resist and was slain under the power of the HS. I shared with CG that I usually resist falling in such situations and often controlled myself but that day I decided to let go
I cried and wailed but after that, felt really released and shiok
One of the ‘hi’s” in the camp was the treasure hunt game on the 2nd day. Our team was running and really rushing from station to station. I’ve got very competitive team members and I think that’s great and it made the whole atmosphere very fun. We aimed to excel but I believe we are also the kind who would loose graciously
Another “hi” was the opportunity to sit down with Fengzhu and Alice for coffee. We went to a shopping mall near the hotel and I was there for less than 15 minutes and decided to make my way to the other shopping mall where there would be more stuff. Then I spotted both of them in a café and decided it would be more meaningful sitting down with them. And it was wonderful. I’ve always been so encouraged by Fengzhu. My first encounter with her was at the Chinatown evangelistic programme. She was the relative of one of our CG’s contact. She had bad knees and could not move around quickly or easily. So, when she realised that the Chinatown programme was about rushing from station to station tasting different food, it didn’t go quite well with her that day. But we took care of her trailing behind the rest of the team. But I believe that day, she did enjoy herself too as there was the appreciative smile at the end of the day and our team did come in 2nd so she went home with a NTUC voucher too. She attended the parties in Whampoa regularly and gave her life to Jesus subsequently. And she has been such a joy to us all. So, I sat down with the 2 ladies for coffee and got to hear wonderful and edifying stories
Another “hi”… There were many 1st timers at camp this year. We’ve got some old time members like Angie, Jesslyn, Joel, Lihua who have been in the Chinese church for a while already and they joined us for camp finally this year. Their presence by itself was a great encouragement and it was a greater joy hearing that they would want to be part of the camp committee for next year… hooaaahhooaaa….. such are the moments that make all your years of service very worth it
– seeing people grow and change.
I was about to end this blog and suddenly remembered one other significant moment (there’s quite a few others too).. another “hi”… I was voted for best actress award… hahaha.. *wave-wave*… hahaha… but I don’t know if it should be a hi or lo as the role I acted in camp was a pig! hahahhaaa….. Agnes said 演得很象 :O
成长 30. 60. 100.
